Sounds like you are in a world of surrounding idiots that could care less about anyone or any animal including their own dogs.

This is what you need to do. RE HOME THE DOGS. Take them to a far away place and put them out. Catching a dog is not that impossible.

Keep your babies put up until you get this done.

I will tell you a story. My wife had this problem with a neighbors jack Russel. One day a client came through and as they were talking she said she LOVED Jack russels. They wifes reply was, Really ? well I will give you this one, we have too many dogs anyhow. The dog never came back and the neighbor never knew the difference.

If you neighbor asks you what happened, tell them you have no idea and have someone else swear to it. Problem solved.

If you can trap that dog somehow, just keep it...till the police get there. If I didnt have a gun, I'd rig a trap for the dog. And dont tell them you have it, either. When the dog bit you, all bets were off. Judy, you cannot be this reasonable with raving idiots! You have to be proactive here, darlin'.

Yes, shooting them would be cruel. They have a home. They aren't strays. And I don't think AC's usual procedure is to shoot first and ask questions later, unless they're dealing with a very severe situation.

I think a couple of the previous posters have the right idea...sequester the dogs if possible. When they don't come home, that might get the attention of the owners. I wouldn't go so far as to rehome them with no warning.

I still think some pepper spray in the eyes would teach the dogs a lesson. It fires quite a distance.

They are dangerous dogs for pity's sake. If the owners don't care that they bit someone, they don't deserve to have them. They have already proven than they cannot and will not control them.

Shooting them is a lot kinder than having AC pick them up. Most AC departments quarantine dangerous dogs for a set period before making the final decision. A bullet is far kinder than two weeks in a stressful kennel environment only to be euthanized anyway. If my own dogs acted this way, they'd be euthanized ASAP. Someone else's dog, repeatedly, on our property? Forget it!!! The difference is we care where our dogs are at all times, and what they're doing. These idiots do not, and they'll probably end up run over at best.

Well, number one, the jack russell didn't bite anyone. He doesn't seem dangerous. Number two, both are purebred dogs and could probably find good homes elsewhere. To shoot them without even giving them a second chance at a new life IS cruel. Again, a dog biting someone ONCE does not make it vicious. If that were the case, probably 50% of the dogs in the United States would have been put down by now on a court order.

The owners don't deserve the dogs. The dogs don't deserve to die because they have bad owners. And AC isn't the only option. The Humane Society could do something, too.

We obviously have fundamentally different views on how to handle this situation. We should just agree to disagree.

I am usually an advocate of shooting a stray dog IF I see them killing my animals. HOWEVER, you madam are dealing with idiots that more than likely take on a grudge against you and harm you or your animals in ways that only an idiot can.

So, maybe AC should get involved, but usually this will only start a lengthy war.
