So mad I could spit bullets (loose dog AGAIN) - Letter rejected

The letter was returned "REFUSED". It arrived in the mail today.
I had only put a zip code for the return address to try to avoid their rejecting it outright (figuring they might reject it if they saw my address on the envelope).
The P.O. must have opened it to figure out that it was to go back to me.

I don't think you should try to rehome a biting dog nor poison one with hamburger. Now that you have logged all the complaints, of course you would be a prime suspect in animal abuse case and with your luck, all it would do is get you jailed.

Best to try to catch the dog on your property again and this time HOLD him until Animal Control can come to yOUR home and pick him up and IMPOUND him. Sounds like the Mr and Mrs Ditzes won't have enough brain to keep going in and paying the rising fine for "Dog at Large" fees.

Also, the idiots need to be told that the batteries in the invisable fence collar MUST be replaced every TWO MONTHS for the collar to remain effective! If the dogs are not wearing collars with transmitters attached at the throat of the collar, then Mrs Ditz is bald-faced lying to you about the fence system.

IF you can catch that dog again and hold it there and the dog repeatedly gets taken into doggy jail, it may not wake up the Ditzez but it MAY scare the dogs enough that they learn to avoid you and your property. You MUST invest in some heavy leather gloves BUT the more reported bites a dog has, the more likely he will be taken away forever.

Let us know what comes of it all.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize I was being sarcastic. I know a thing or two about dogs and animal control, and a dog that has bitten a person once is not legally considered vicious.

The entire world is a big place and I don't know where on this planet you are located but where I come from, any dog that bites a human being is considered a "Dangerous Dog".

Vicious, dangerous, what really is the difference? The first bite is documented then it is all down hill from there for that dog IN MOST CITIES.

Where there are no city laws to protect people, there are country laws to protect livestock and it IS legal to shoot dogs running and killing livestock! In the city, that remedy can be considered cruelty to animals. It ALL DEPENDS on WHERE you LIVE! Every city can be a little different but in most towns, 3 bites to humans and that dog is DONE!

Is there any way you can fence in your yard/chicken area so they have a protected space the dogs can't charge into?

Seems like a lost battle and I agree with not killing neighbors pets. It just starts a war. These folks don't sound all that ethical and my guess is they would be more ruthless than you if a real war on pets broke out.

I'd keep calling animal control when the dogs are out, but I'd fence in my chickens so they had a safe yard to roam in.
It's not fair to have the expense of fencing on you but it will give you peace of mind and keep your girls safe.

Good luck.

Not wanting to split hairs here, but there are exceptions to this. There was an instance where a woman's fiance wanted to get the woman's dog out from under her bed b/c the little dog didn't like him and would not stay in the room with him. The dog ran under the bed to hide, and he tried to drag her out. He got down on the floor, reached under the bed and grabbed her by the hair, dragging her toward him. She bit him and sliced his lip, requiring him to have stitches. This fool SUED HIS FIANCEE'S INS. CO AND THEY PAID.

Why do so many people who make a stupid decision and get injured feel that someone else (meaning you and I, and everyone else who pays insurance premiums of any kind) must be liable for said stupid injured party's stupidity? I'm tired of paying for burglars who get injured WHILE COMMITTING A CRIME & are awarded $$$$, fools who don't follow directions and have the audacity to think other people should shell out $$$$ for their care and "personal suffering" *gee, the label on the screwdriver never SAID don't use it to scratch the inside of my ear...* *I didn't know Windex and eye drops aren't interchangeable...* *What do you mean I shouldn't Text & drive? I'm a good driver! I can TM, yak with friends, and put on makeup all at the same time...*

in NC a dog who bites a human is automatically by law has, has to go into rabies observation for 10 days, either at the shelter or at vet clinic, at the owner exspense
