So.. mama duck is not a fan of her babies

Wooow. I didn't expect this from the girls, but Loki (my mama duck, who isn't even a year yet) is very much not a fan of the babies (4 and 5 weeks ish) that I know are girls, and vice versa. I can't tell any of the boys yet, but I had Loki and Downey (my drake) outside the little pen and the babies in the pen, and there was mass poking and pecking THROUGH the holes. Stress level is at medium maximum. Their cages have been inside, so they're used to looking at each other. Now they've started bunching at the ends of the cages closest to each other and apparently they're talking smack to each other, because they're like MMA fighters getting their friends to hold them back. Downey is just like.... hmmmm... ladies?

I can't believe how many girls there are! I'm pretty sure Val is a boy, but, wow, I was not expecting the hostile Foxy Boxing.

Did the mama hatch them or did you incubate them? We’re trying to get our 5 week old ducklings integrated with their mamas and it isn’t going so well. We incubated them. The do ok for the most part but every once in a while one of the females goes into attack mode and flies at one of the ducklings (even though the babies are almost the same size)

Yep, I'm going through the same thing. They're her babies, but I incubated them, since she didn't have any interest in sitting on them and she's still very young. I feel like the bodyguard on one of those daytime TV shows when they decide they want to start poking each other. Then everyone gets involved and it's like a floofy pile up
