So many colors of eggs :)

Thank you

My fav. would be the olive eggs. They are so dark. My friend took one of my Oilve eggers. Onethespot has some of the prettiest egg layers.

Are the darker ones from Marans? I'm expecting just about every color other than the DARK browns. Was a bit curious if they were and what you think of your Marans, if they are. I'm seriously considering getting a Maran next year to work into my birdie family so I've got all the bases.

I'm just so excited to go out someday (only 1 month old) and be like Forrest Gump and Chocolates... "Never know what cha gonna get."

This might be dumb - but do they taste different from each other, or cook up different?

I've only had one kind of chicken, so never been able to compare...

The color doesn't make a difference in the taste, mostly the diet and lifestyle of the chicken change the egg taste. I just think it's fun to be suprised by the idea of "what color will I get today." Like Easter everyday!

Whenever we sell/give eggs away I always try and make sure that every dozen has at least 1 green or blue egg, and I like to arrange the eggs so that they look pretty. Lol

But, MrsSmith, you're eggs are so pretty! We don't get that many colors

(At least not yet!) I love the pure white ones especially. We get a really dark brown one every now and then, but we mostly get tan with speckles/spots. We also get cream colored ones from the mix bantams. We have two Araucanas, 1 lays a medium sized olive green egg (Not half as dark as yours though), and the other lays a large blue egg.

Today we got this funky looking cream/white egg which had all these little scratches on it and a very defined pointy egg. Really odd.

Anyway, if I was one of your neighbors and received a carton full of pretty eggs like that, I'd probably ask to buy them instead! Simply beautiful.

Thank you everyone

It has taken time to get the colors that I have been happy with. My husband laughes, but I wanted to have pretty colors to give. I am not allowed roosters where I live so I do keep a Maran roo at my friends house as she is allowed to keep roosters in her city.
I do have a Maran and a Maran cross. Not sure cross of what, Would have to ask Onthespot (Patty). When she showed me the color of green those hens layed I knew that is one of the colors I was missing and I wanted. I had never seen a green egg so dark until I saw those. Then hens are also lovely with wonderful temperments. I do have some pure blue layers but they are still to young to lay. I can't wait to add those to my basket.

As for taste they all taste the same. But easter is fun because some eggs we dont even need to color
