So many debates all the time

Internet forums are full of self appointed experts and this one has no shortage, You just do your own thing be happy and don't worry about the internet arm chair experts.

I understand. I'm brand new here... only a few days. The first day I had someone being rude to me. Which actually made me angry. Tt sucks terribly but there is people like that. Remember there are many people in this community and in our lives that support us. I find it best to ignore them.

Sorry you're feeling this way. Heated debates are nothing new, but some folks just don't know when to drop it. There are forum rules here on BYC and the MODS are great about deleting posts that violate their rules. If you feel someone has gone too far you can report their posts.

If there is a particular user(s) that is giving you trouble you can block them. If you hover over their profile name a menu will pop up. Just select Ignore and you won't see their posts anymore. You will see a notice on a thread if it contains a post from someone you are ignoring but you don't have to view it if you don't want to.

I've had to block another user here. For some reason she felt the need to argue about almost everything I posted. Like it was her job to make me look dumb. I don't know what her problem was/is but I did send a PM and asked her to stop. She played dumb but when she started tagging other well know users in her crusade I had enough and blocked her. There is something wrong with people who feel the need to belittle others. We have the choice in whether or not to let these people in our lives. I don't waste my time or energy on these people and neither should you. Debating and learning other viewpoints is good but you don't owe them your time if they can't be civil.

Wow, that’s terrible she kept on arguing with you, that would be so annoying. Sorry you had to go through that, I agree, I don’t understand why people feel the need to belittle others. You’re right, I don’t owe them my time, I just need to believe that more. I guess I should have mentioned though, that the person wasn’t actually a person on Backyard Chickens although I have definitely had people be rude to me on here. The newest debate is about breeding rabbits for good type and conformation. And someone is basically getting mad at me for breeding for pets.

It was annoying but mostly just sad. People like that must be so miserable all the time. I pity them.

You can block people on FB. Makes it so they can't see your posts either so can be even better. Whatever knowledge they may have to share, it's not worth the cost of dealing with them.

Hmm, I didn't know that you could breed rabbits for conformation. Silly me, I just thought rabbit x rabbit = rabbit!! You learn something new every day.

Passions can certainly run deep can't they? My thing is horses, and let me tell you, there is a never ending supply of heated debates there! Whew! Blanketing vs Not blanketing, feeding grain vs not feeding grain, bits vs no bits.

Pretty much any thing that you do, someone else will absolutely hate and are completely appalled that you do it--and they will come up with all kinds of articles, books and media backing their claim!

It certainly can be overwhelming!

@MistyandLuna If you feel the need to vent, by all means come here and vent! As you can see, we can all commiserate together LOL!
