Now that I've finally found out I can get my chickens, I'm on to the next stage - planning a coop. But it needs to be safe from all of the following: bear (we have two definite black bears here), coyote, raccoon, rattlesnake, bobcat, and falcon/hawk. I have seen all of these on my property or near enough to me, at some point in the past year. Oh and neighbor dogs that get loose sometimes.

Do my future chickens even stand a chance? Is anything going to prevent all of these from getting to them? Is an electric fence going to be the best option? Any other advice is welcome.

bear wont be much of a trouble but racoon are the worst, my flock of 25 or so even go 4 or 5 days at a time alone befor in the hills of west virginia . a coon took 5 birds untill i learned how to reinforce the cattle fence with chicken wire/hardwire cloth stuff in order to keep the coons from pulling the chickens threw the 2x4 inch holes.. take care have fun , get lots of chickens
