So much poop!

How often do you change wood shavings in the bottom of the brooder? I have 7 2wk old chicks and what a mess. I don't want to obsess, but there is poop everywhere. Do i just add more on top? or empty and start with fresh?

I try to change the litter every 2 days. If you have a wire cage I take it out and clean the bottom every 5 days

course i only have 2 10weeks chicks but even when they were young the most i do it is once a week, i would orbably do it every 5days

I change every day because I'm afraid that they're going to peck at it and get sick.

Right now I'm changing the shredded newspaper 1-3 times a day, depending if they get water all over the place. My 2 aren't too smelly...yet...

I have puppy pads with a thick covering of paper towel on top and I change the paper towels morning and night and the puppy pads every other day and I have 6 chicks and so far no smell

i have 2 chicks and they lived in my bedroom until 7weeks so they lived in my bedroom for 6 weeks and they never smelled and i did it only once a week...the only time it smelt was immediately after they went for like 30 secs like a human but then i never smelt anything,

I scooped it every day and added shavings whenever necessary. I completely changed it once per week and cleaned the brooder out.
