So my 3rd egg was laid today

bottom was cracked a bit, when I cracked the egg open I noticed blood in the membrane part. honestly it kinda turned me off to breakfast so I just seperated it and ate the yolk.

Why would there be blood? how can I make her shell stronger? The egg she laid for me yesterday has a good solid shell on it, todays was thin

I feed them layena (same as previous owner). They are in and out of the coop from dawn till dusk (same with previous owner). I've had her 2 1/2 days now.
 
To make the shells thicker buy thme some oyster shell or some layer pellets. The blood is just a new by thing, it will go away eventually.

Okay, I thought Layena was designed for strong shells, guess I'll pick up some oyster shell tomorrow. The chicken is between 12 and 18 months old, when can I expect it to go away?
