So Sad for my hen on Valentines Day

I'm so sorry Tommy....
Wow - I've never heard of a possum doing this. Do your birds get tucked in a coop at night? Did the pred get in there?

It didn't come out last night. My body woke up @ exactly 3:00AM this morning and I mean EXACTLY! Its strange but then I remembered I was awaken @ 3:00AM exactly the other morning too from the cry so perhaps my body is on the "watch-out" mode...

I'm sooooo sorry for your loss Tommy! I know you love your pets! :aww

She was one of my better Modern Game...and the Trio is now no more. I will post updates on her on my site later on tonight. I don't know why would the possum would ever do such thing...it plucked all her feather out, and there were some that I found with blood and a little bit of meat on it. I was angry and sadden @ the same time.

It was such a gory site to see @ 3:00AM in the morning and it was raining. I ran out there as quick as possible but it was too late.

I was so sadden by it that I couldn't go to sleep again until 4:30AM.

The possum is at least 25lbs or more.

Even though I would like to keep the spirit of Valentine going, the murders life will end tonight, I am ready to take it out.

Im the loving memory of my hen...

There was a strange noise outside at 01:15 I got up ran out the door there was a big possum in my coop and it murdered my sweet hen Ms. Snuggles. I got all the other hens out got a broom and it took 10 minutes but got the possum out. If I would have been just a bit faster, if I had listened to Mr. Stella (she was in bed with me under the blanket and she was growling). I know this is my fault! The side door to the coop was open the latch wasn't latched. I put the lights on and completely cleaned the coop, moved it, put all fresh shavings in, fresh food and water. I am heartbroken. Amypea, cuddles and Ms. Liz went right back into the coop. My two male Guineas came off their roost bar and they seemed to know what happened as both of them began chattering (they rarely chatter) and continued till I put the hens away for the night. The Guniea hens stayed on their perch no noise. I am very sad. God has Snuggles now
