So sad.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss.

Lead?! omg! Where on earth was she getting that from? The water??
It sounds like her death might save you and your flock from future illness. Clever Randy

I sure hope so. I'm having the water tested, the soil tested, our blood tested and maybe even the remaining hen's eggs and blood tested. I really can't believe this. I am so worried and wonder what this means for our future health and also my days of keeping chickens. I don't know what I am going to do if it turns out that we have serious problems with lead. Cull my beloved pets and move?

Try not to panic! If it wasn't high enough to kill her, I can't imagine you've got too much of it. Chickens are so small, really! And they eat crazy things

Do you have old pipes? Sometimes outdoor pipework isn't replaced, but inside it usually is.

I'm sorry you're having such a horrendous week

I am also sorry for your loss. I hope that you find that your soil and water are okay and that Randy just, somehow, got into something strange. But I can imagine how worrying this must be for you. Do you have kids?

I have two kids, 11 and 13. they actually don't eat eggs all that much. my husband and I eat way more and i cook with them all the time. i am worried more right now about the water. the house was built in 1925, so maybe lead pipes are to blame.

i think cornell is still working on the tests to find out why she died, but i guess they wanted to call right away about the results of the lead findings because they wanted us to not eat the eggs anymore.
