So....talk about.....CANCER SUPPORT THREAD !!

Mine was curly - curly when it first came back then after 9 months it became as straight as a board. I have always had wavy hair and the wave came back a few years ago. I am 7 years from when I found the lump. I found it on the 4th of July 2003. Had 12 rounds of chemo and 28 radiation treatments. Been on femara for 6 years.

Coyote - where do you get the aqua stuff for that tie? That sounds like a fun thing to make.

AND something I could use.

Vert - Thanks for checking in! I always enjoy your posts and insight.

Is it still hot up there? We were supposed to get 80 % chance of rain yesterday, and it did drizzle a bit but not enough, just wet the ground then stopped.

I hope we get a mess of rain next week, or everything in my garden is doomed.

Ozark - I can't imagine working in a place like that when it's hot......how'd you do it?

Deerman, thank you for checking in too. I'm almost done!

I have a few grey hairs that I'm letting grow, funny they are the only ones brave enough to come out.

They're about a half inch long. I'm leaving them be. It should be interesting to see how my hair will grow back. I had curly/wavy hair before and that's what I hope to get back.

Cackle - I would have burnt that wig.....that must have drove you mad! I wish you the very best and congrats to you! How much longer do you have to take the femara? How did you handle the radiation? I have to do that too.

And if anyone knows - how long do you have to keep the port in after you're done with the treatments? I can ask my Doc on Wed, just thought I'd throw it out there.......

Mine said I was going to keep it for a year following my last chemo(just in cas), but they couldn't flush it about 6months in and had it taken out. I think they were afraid it would get infected like the first one did.

You can get the Aqua stuff at Walmart, Lowe's, Home Depot, Look around where they have houseplants and potting soil. It looks like large salt crystals

Thank you Coyote.

I'll check out Lowe's.

A year! I'd be ripping it out! I was told you have to flush it out every 30 days. I guess they do that? I'm going to ask on Wed. Maybe I won't have to have it that long. I understand the "just in case" part though.

I'm GROUCHY today.

I think my body knows that tomorrow is Dex day, which makes me grouchy - so I'm starting before I even take the stuff.

hi Luna, hope your Monday goes well. Mondays can feel like such a downer sometimes. Weirdly, I had such a bad week last week that I am grateful for a new week. Today, Monday feels like a new beginning.

to you. Oddly enough I feel better today. (and that's after taking the steroids) Who knew. I think I'm gung ho for tomorrow, let's just get this done!

Hey....how was your trip? Didn't you go to the east coast? Or am I loopy?

It's CLOUDY today! yay I hope it rains...........we need it so bad, I have a rainstick and I actually did a jig and waved the stick around

maybe it'll work.

Luna, I keep checking this thread to see how you are doing. You do stay in my thoughts and prayers.

It's been hot and humid lately and the slight cool spell we've had is going to be replaced with 90 degree weather again. Just yesterday Granny said she wished we could find out what is used in those cooling neck wraps. I was pleasantly surprized to find the answer here. I hope they help you stay a little more comfortable during the heat wave that's headed your way.

Thank you Opa.

That means a lot to me.

So glad you found an answer here! Yep, bracing myself for the next round of heat and humidity, and after so many weeks of this weather, it's not the heat it's the humanity.
