So....talk about.....CANCER SUPPORT THREAD !!

3 Weeks down, 3 to go. I'm not thinking about it much at the moment… I'm too stressed about too many other things at the moment. I'll get to this one when it comes. I'm just praying right now that the results will be good. It's been a rough year and I'm tired. Praying for positive negatives for you all as well, that is waiting…

You're in my thoughts and prayers Sumi

Peace be with you my friend.

Hang in there..... We're all still here..

Your in my prayers...

My husband just had a whole bunch of basal cell carcinoma and one Squamous cell taken off his face.  He was there all day.  He's wimping it up as much as possible, but we are starting to pay more attention to what we eat.  I brought home an artichoke today..I've never had one, but they're supposed to be highly effective as a skin cancer fighting food. Just have to figure out how to cook it.....

It does hurt....nerve damage and all. Mine hurt for over a year and I only had one removed. I think they said 5 layers down? Sometimes still aches a bit, but if your hubby is like mine, he will play it for all it's worth. Mine came out to help me split firewood Friday night. He took over the log splitter & I was carrying & stacking the firewood. All of the sudden I hear him scream :barnie. DD & I go running to him, he had put his hand on this little spot by the motor that says "HOT"! Why? I still don't know why he was even on that side of the splitter....? Anyway I plucked off some aloe Vera off my plant in the kitchen, DD got a baggie of ice, and then he says "I may need to go to the hospital. I think I'm in shock." :lau. I really was laughing a bit inside...but the other side of me wanted to say "Suck it up Buttercup!" as he is whaling in pain. DD also ran to get him some ice water and a cold washcloth. The burn was not bad. No flesh hanging, or blood, not even a blister, so don't think I'm a cold hearted uncaring meanie.....but I knew that if he was thinking he was in shock, he was thinking. And people who are in shock can't think. :D

I am so glad for your son's results! Praying for you @sumi

That story about your DH made me laugh out loud, @Outpost JWB . Goodness… men can be fun sometimes...

I still get aches from my shoulder incision, but I think that was partly because they took quite a lot of tissue out and it was right on my shoulder blade.

Talking about cancer fighting foods, I spotted an article yesterday on ginger being a good cancer fighter. Now, I know mushrooms, turmeric and spirulina is supposedly good too. I think a healthier lifestyle and eating habits all round would be beneficial, but there are worse things to stock up on than ginger?

The days are ticking down @sumi. Just not fast enough! I'm impatient :D. I go this week for annual mammogram. Known a few ladies who have won, and a few who have lost the battle to breast cancer. And yes, I know men can get breast cancer too. Just don't personally know any man who has gone through it. Praying for you all. Have a great weekend. :D

By Thursday it would be 5 weeks since the surgery, so another week to go and then waiting for the mail… They are going to send me and my GP here each a letter detailing the results. The days really are dragging, I'm impatient too. Whatever the results are, I need to know.

Hope all will go well with the mammogram! I lost 2 of my favourite aunts to breast cancer, but I read in a magazine this week that the survival rate for that is now up to 80% or thereabouts, with advances in treatment and preventative treatments lowering the risk even more, so that is good. Now we just need medical science to give us that good odds on all the other cancers!
