I have a weeping pussy willow that I planted a few years ago. They are water lovers, so if you just transplanted yours, you might want to invest in one of those "bags" that you prop onto to lower part of the trunk and fill with water so it will get a good start that way. With your heat right now you might want to do that.

Mine loves where I put it - at the edge of the little pond. I have to cut the roots that grow in the water every season or it chokes the pond.

Otherwise, it's doing great, so good in fact that you can see where the chooks have jumped up to snag the lower branches! I don't have to prune it! You can also see where - over the water - they can't reach the branches or they would be swimming.........

JJ - the heat, bleah........it's been breezy though and not too sticky where I am, and my birds have a very shady backyard, a little fan, and ice water - and no complaints so far.

Your two should be fine, what do you do for them? You know, it doesn't matter as we'll all be at work worrying about them anyway! I don't see mine til I get home about 3:00 tomorrow, and 4:00 on reg work days. They're always good.

There is a scratching and scurrying noise above my head at the moment. Must be a mouse.

Speaking of mouse, JJ the author of "Wesley The Owl" is Stacey O'Brien. If that helps.

I think I killed it. All the leaves have turned brown (those that weren't already eaten by Jap Beetles) The soil here stinks. My old yard I worked so hard on that soil, I had earthworms the size of garter snakes! This one, nothing helps. We've started putting everything in raised beds or lasagana gardening, mostly raised. I've been putting water on it daily by it is sooooooooo dang hot and dry here. Just looked at the weather report. We have a very slight chance of a shower everyday this week. Even the river is starting to look low.

Life has been crazy the last couple of days. My dog had a biopsy yesterday and has been having trouble bouncing back from being knocked out. My vet is thinking she had Cushing's Disease. She has this growth all the way down her back, calicous cutis (sp?) (that's what he thinks it is) is a sign of Cushing's. She's been on steroids for her arthritis but that makes Cushings worse. UGH! My baby!!

Hijacking thread, Coyote, if your vet is into holistic medicine, chaste berry has had some very good results in horses in helping them with cushing's control. Dogs have been responding well too.

AWESOME Thank You!!! I will check it out at the health food store. They aren't really into it, but they aren't against trying it either. They have been real happy with the food that I have switched her to. Lost 7lbs in a little over a month!! First time she has been below 50lbs in 3 years! Plus the fact that there are no grain which can promote arthritis, she is even moving a bit better. She even eats it without having to mix anything into it. THAT is a first!!

ETA-- this is what she has been eating. http://www.earthbornholisticpetfood.com/primitive_natural/index.php She loves it.

Luna you behave tomorrow!!
