Welsummer - the cancer in my system started because of too much estrogen

but who really knows........I just hope "they" can come up with some answers on curing the dreaded disease. Among others. All this $$$$ going to the "cause" how come there isn't a cure yet? I'm sorry, but I don't contribute money for these causes, I'm a little skeptical about where the $$ really goes. It seems lately every store I go to the clerk has to ask "would you like to contribute to ____________ to cure cancer?" Here I am with no eyebrows or eyelashes, a hot itchy wig on - "No, I don't want to give you my lousy dollar" I made my contribution to the surgeon, the hospital and my oncology Dr. and to all the chemicals that I've ingested. Wow, I guess that rant had to come out.........

I have the same problem with everyone wanting a dollar for this and that. THEY gather it and deduct the contribution from THEIR taxes!
That way they get to keep their money donate yours and call themselves good neighbors.
I hand what little I can give directly to the recipient.
I guess I should hide too.

okay, so when those people call looking for a donation to underprivileged kids, I say no. I donate every day. I'm a teacher. I teach them how to behave. I love them when they're coming unglued. And, I do it for very little money. I've donated. Believe me.

I got my last chemo on the 20th and the whole week after I couldn't shake this sick feeling. I went back to see my oncologist on thursday and they stuck me in the hospital and I didn't get out until today. I'm feeling much better today.

Anyway your gonna get your hair. My first chemo was on April 1st {April fools day} and it wasn't funny. Twelve days later my hair starts coming out. Maybe a week later I shave my head, so thats what four and a half months ago.

I can't wait until I have enough to run a comb through it.

Whats funny is once my hair started coming back in people want to rub my head.

I go on as many rides to benifit individuals who have the disease as I can and that way I know where my $ went and that it was both needed and appreciated. I prefer to make my donation that way.

Pumpkin - I donate to my local animal shelter(s), they have a gift shop where you can donate items for sale to help raise money for them. Things like that. I can't trust those people outside grocery stores though. They try to make you feel guilty for not dropping some coins into their can.

BUT I usually drop some money in the can for school kids, if there is a mom there with them.

God forbid if the school superintendant can't give up part of his large salary so the kids can get a uniform for their team, or a pencil or two.

Some of the other uses of drugs from cancer research has been helpful for other purposes. Granny had an ocular stroke and was blind in her right eye. An injection of a "cancer drug" directly into the cornea of her eye has returned her sight. Luna I'm glad you have finally completed your regime and can now expend the same effort to get back to normal.

Cindy - I've been thinking about this (cancer research). I was a trooper throughout my whole ordeal, and just now going through some kind of anger issues and a little frustration. Delayed reaction?

I've been reading some on the research and feel that we as people do need to continue putting money into it. Who else would fund it? Are you going to watch that Stand Up to Cancer on the telly? I'm thinking about it.......... thanks for the link, I'm going to check it out. Here's a burning question: why are so many of us getting cancer? WTH is going on?

Eleven years ago my step daughter had late stage 3 brain cancer. The surgeon took all of it out and put a "chemo wafer" in the spot where the tumor was and closed her back up. She did the chemo drip and radiation which took 2 years to complete because of her white blood cound always being low. She has passed the 5 year mark and is doing very well! I'm sure research has helped her survive. I have turned a corner and I'm being thankful now.
