So....talk about.....CANCER SUPPORT THREAD !!

Coyote, after reading about your new "friends" it doesn't seem too bad. Tell me if I'm wrong but - is your treatment time shorter this time? Instead of being infused for hours and hours, is it just an hour or so? I surely hope so. And maybe, just maybe you won't feel as sick this time, or if you have to be sick, not as long.

It would be terrific if you didn't have to "talk to Ralph on the big white phone". Meanwhile, this radiation is getting to my intestines big time.

I eat two bites of something and............................off I go. 3 more weeks left of this stuff. I should buy stock in Imodium.............

Took about 5 hours but that was because they couldn't find the "Lady with Dog" gloves, lol. They couldn't find the sterile non-laytex gloves that they had at the front desk especially for me. Truely, that is how the box is marked.

It wasn't bad today. The Abraxane only takes about a half hour to get in. It's white in color. I asked the nurse if she had it in chocolate. She told me that to her it looked like seminal fluid.

it did, lol

Benedryl, anti-barf, then Herceptin followed by the Abraxane. Haven't really eaten all day, just not hungry but I manage to drink a couple of glasses of chocolate milk and have a bagel. Pumping in lots of water right now.

Only problem is that now I am running a fever. It kind of common when you are on these drug. Trust me, Lurchie will check me again in an hour to see what it is. If it's too high he will call the docs. But I should be ok, I'm on some nasty tasting antibiotics that they put me on just to make sure my port surgery didn't lead to an infection. Clinamiacin(sp?) capsules and they taste horrid. I have never had a capsule taste like that before!

I was doing some research for the radiation and I found some interesting info:

http://www.naturodoc.com/ If you go on this site and do a search for modifilan it is a seaweed that pulls radiation and other heavy metals from your body. BUT I also found some info on U-Fucoidan which supposedly causes cancer cells to self destruct. Very interesting.

Do you bring Katie with you? How sweet to have some nice doggie company when you're sitting there attached to tube lines! I wouldn't be looking at that bag of Abraxane while I was sitting there........

Hi Chickies.

Coyote, good vibes and hugs sent your way. Sorry you have to go thru this again.

Luna, I have heard sea cucumber is good for radiation too. Not sure where you would get them in Jersey. Or how you would prepare them but I do know a few radiation patients here in Maine use it.

My moonflowers budded and then the next night we got a frost. It is still hanging on but I don't know if it will fully flower. Man, I have the hardest time with moonflowers. Such a bummer.

July 4th my friend Barbara was healthy, hale, hearty, having a great time and 130 pounds. Two and half weeks ago she wasn't feeling well and went to the doctor, 120 pounds. They ran tests called her back, said she had some "spots" they wanted to check out. Those spots are on her liver, kidney, stomach, intestines, and her colon is blocked. Today she weighs 96 pounds and was told she has days to live, her cancer that she had no idea she had is in the final stages. She can't keep food down, she can't remember anything from one second to the next, she got lost walking to her mailbox this morning. Please pray for a fast and peaceful end to a wonderful educator and woman's life. On the 4th of July we discussed learning, teacher pay, benefits, and the impact we share on children's and adult's lives... now she can't discuss the weather around her.

My friend Marcie is nearing the end of her ordeal too, she told me last night she's starting to feel really peaceful but is still undergoing treatment trying to squeeze in a just a few more days of her life. She's ballooned up from 145 to almost 300 pounds with the treatment she's doing. She's happily married now, and feels like everything is in order. Please pray for her, her new husband (old friend/lover/caretaker), and her daughter and grand-daughter.

Please God, just no more.

Damummis - I'll check out sea cucumber, thanks for the info. When I looked up modifilan (brown seaweed) I would have to take 10 capsules a day

I don't know about that............maybe sea cucumber would be a little less extreme. Probably have to eat 5 sea cucumbers a day........just foolin.
