I called the local hospital to inquire on what I should do. They said to call 911, so I did. The guys came over and checked him out and asked him if he wanted to go the hospital. Of course he said "no". I kinda don't blame him either but............I had to do something. The EMTs said that at the hospital they aren't really going to do much for a back problem like that. I explained that it wasn't
just the back I was worried about, it's the he can't stand up or move his butt to one side of the cushion for craps sake or hold a glass of water - he has a hard time grasping anything with his hand(s). I thought "he's paralyzed". He's coughing up a lot of junk
and threw up yesterday (I found out later that the oxy does that)
I appreciated the honesty from the EMT guys. They said they see this all the time and all the hospital can do is give him more pain meds and tell him to see an orthopedic doc.
I talked to the orthopedic office while the EMTs were here and the Dr. was out (it's 75 degrees out today, I'm sure he's out on the golf field) He'll call us tomorrow with suggestions. I can't take him to the Dr - I will have to call an ambulance service for that
Anyway, right now he's on his back on the couch. My DD's boyfriend helped me to get him to lay down.
I know it stinks but the soonest we can get him to do the MRI is Nov 2. Any other time before that was during my radiation, so that didn't work out. We're stuck between a rock and a hard place. I feel a little relieved right now, only because he did get looked at and checked over by the EMTs. So now we wait.
