so they let Michael Vick back into the NFL?

Vick is basically done in the NFL. He was an 8/8 QB. I seriously doubt he'll last the season. Some pet lover on the front line will let someone get through to thrash him.

And they'll be protesters at every one of his games...

*although that would just make him more famous..*

He was sentenced in accordance with the MIN/MAX sentencing guidlines by the State.

According to you because he has more money/fame he should have to do extra time? If someone you know gets caught doing the same thing they will/should be sentenced to 1-3 years in prison then released on some sort of probation for a specified amount of time. FACT is that if it was someone not so well known, they probably would have got work release, especially if they have a job which is supporting wife and kids. And most likely wherever they work would not suspend them from being able to return to work when they had served whatever time the JUDGE deemed appropriate.

No, Im saying that the amount of time anyone has to serve for dog fighting isnt enough.

But What Im getting at, its that even though he can do something so horrendous, he still gets a job that pays a HUGE amount of money. That he will still have his fans.

Really, is it appropriate to give soemone like this that kind of job back? No. But, it happens all the time, so what can I say other than something is major wrong with it. Making that sort of money, for something so stupid, should be a privilige.

Yes, I know. Even though its what the judge thinks is appropriate, we dont live in a peacefull and well versed society. The human race is happy, as long as we are entertained and comfortable. Most people dont care for the suffering of other species.

I think that they set a bad example by letting him back in. I think what he did was wrong, and I'm not sure he's sorry. (don't know but I don't think so) If I were ashamed I wouldn't wanna be anywhere near the public eye.

If any NFL team is stupid enough to pick him up, I am personally dedicating a large portion of my free time to making them very aware that we are not happy about it. Peaceful, but persistant (with a large number of my friends doing the same thing).

I agree with the original post-for shame, NFL....

So turn off your TVs and quit paying the NFL.

While I agree 110% that Vick is a sick person and doesn't deserve to have his high-profile, highly paid job back, I wish that just a small fraction of the atrocities that go on every day (to animals, to people, here in the U.S., across the rest of the planet) got half as much attention. I'm a crazy animal lover, just like most of you folks (my dogs? 3 rescued pit bulls. One siezed in a drug raid from a fighting ring, just like the Vick dogs). Dog fighting is a problem, and it sickens me. But honestly, I wish that the local foods movement--with emphasis on humanely raised, naturally pastured animal products--got half as much national attention as the Vick case. Talk about cruelty to animals...if we could bring the focus back onto small, local farms, we'd help a lot more animals than the couple dozen dogs in Vick's case. Just my $.02.

I also think that because he IS such a public figure and kids look up to him that a BIG portion of his PUBLIC job pay be mandated to be sent to pitt/dog fighting rescues...

Vick will not make millions. The NFL has a salary cap. Owners can only spend so much on players. That's why you see players leave teams to go to others. They have to put the money where they thik is best for the team. Also NFL players don't play as long as baseball or basketball players because it's a contact sport. 30 is old in the NFL. Vick is way past his prime and at best will be a back up. As for high profile people getting away with everything does everyone forget out our past president Clinton lied to everyone? Cheats on his wife and what happened to him? Nothing. Isn't that the highest role model in the US and most of the world? What message came from that? I believe this country has come down to alot of talkers and not much action.

We laugh at Mayberry, but it was about what we should all still be about, basic human values. We permit so much evil, because we think it is inevitable. We don't teach our kids these values because we think it is not possible to survive in this society if adhering to them. If that is true, and it probably is, we are just another Rome, and doomed.

In Mayberry, someone would take pity on Vick and give him a job shoveling horse manure. That's about right.
