Thanks for the suggestions! I've looked on craigslist ,not much available locally. The closest person with chicks /juveniles is a 2 hour drive from here. Another lady is selling fully grown females but again thats over an hour and half to 2 hours from here. I'm kind of leary of buying fully grown ducks though because I wont know exactly how old they really are or how much time has spent with them. I'd like to start with younger birds (under a year old )to make sure egg production is as good as it can be and I'd like my birds to be as tame as possible. I have enough room in my coop and run to house 4 to 5 birds comfortably so right now I'm looking to add 3 females. Not sure what my little one is yet. Hoping its a female though.Hatcheries usually only sell straight run and even when they do offer sexed muscovies they usually won't sell less than 15 birds at a time.
I do have some leads on a few breeders on Fb(gorgeous birds!) but they are really far from here . It would be quite a trip for those birds to get here! I sure would love to have a beautiful blue or lavender hen though! (I'm in north Florida)
