Don't be surprised if they really don't go in it. Muscovies don't like being in deep water, well, they actually are more of a land duck.

Muscovy don't do ponds usually. I have one and she doesn't even bother with it. She would rather walk on the grass than get wet.

They like it, but only got one day out of it. Miso (brown) and Gohan (white) were swimming the whole length underwater.

When they're younger they do mostly enjoy it, as they grow older they stay away most of the time. My muscovies went in the water today and only stayed in for 5 minutes, walking out completely shivering.

I actually won't mind too much. We are going to give it a few months in the spring and see how the water quality is. I figured since they aren't water ducks we might not have as bad a load and be able to put mosquito fish in there for them to nibble and maybe some shubunkin or koi for decoration.

Loved the photo. I can almost hear that top duck asking if you had made good use of your time! I only have runners, so I don't know if yours will ever totally embrace it, but I have always wanted a small koi pond, and I like your idea about adding fish. Good work -- even if your Muscovies don't appreciate the effort right away.
