I feed my chickens whiskey mash for $4 per 5 gal bucket and that equates to less then half of the cost of chicken feed. I have had the mash tested and the only thing missing to make a complete diet is calcium. you could ad a salt block or mix chicken feed to get them the calcium. I mix with feed to make the right consistensy. they chickens love it and so do the pigs. The guy I get it from gets it free from a distillery and once they filter off the alcohol there is none left in the mash. He feeds his pigs and cows for free with mash and produce farm scraps. I pay $4 for 5 gal. If you can find a steady supply you could be on your way to free or cheap feed.

it is quite common to feed pigs and chickens the whiskey mash. mine is barley and sometimes corn i believe. google it and you will see it used a lot for pigs. (because if you can feed a pig for free and butcher him for a $2000 profit, you are doing ok)

Do u serve it wet or do u rinse and let it dry? How do u store it?

I serve it wet. I mix it with feed to get a desired texture. it only keeps for about 2 weeks. it has an expiration date for sure. The guy i bought it from said to only buy a week or so worth at a time so that's what I did. I am new to it as well but like I said if you google it, you will find lots of people using it for pigs and chickens. for some reason it seems like mainly only those two animals. probably cause they will both eat anything.

I brew beer and the hens get all the barley after brewing, but before fermentation. I freeze it in serving sized bags and just take some out a day in advance to thaw. I use it as a treat with their layer mash and they love it; If I could fine a source of whisky mash I'd jump on the chance for feed. The beer grain is my secret ingredient that people seem to like my chickens eggs better than others. So they say....
