So ummm nearing halloween and...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Halloween. I also grew up in a country that doesn't celebrate it so I've been making up for it for the past 18 years I've been in the States.

Before I had kids I stayed home and handed out the best candy I could afford. I even took photos of kids in costumes to show my family back home in Australia. DH used to laugh at me for thanking the kids for coming to get candy!

Now that I have kids they choose anything they want to be for Halloween and I find a way to come through. This is more for me than them. haha. My oldest, now 14 had everything from a custom made Mew Two ( Pokemon ) costume to a Star Wars clone trooper costume.

Last night I asked our 6 year old who he wants to be and he said "Gordon Freeman from Half Life" so at 7am this morning I was actually surfing the web to find a costume.

Yes I dress up too!

My favorite time of the year, harvesting, canning, freezing love it,
Family tradition is digging out the DVD of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show.(used to be VHS)
We live in the wrong neighborhood for tricker treaters but the younger kids go to the school for tricks and treats.
Last year A person decided to dress as the headless horseman, hores included.
Too bad the horse was more headless than the rider, the horse walked him right into a pole, peeled him right off

I guess the horse was more into halloween than the rider thought.

I LOVE Halloween! We don't get trick-or-treaters around here because we live in the sticks. I like to keep things traditional, we make cider and have a bonfire and ghost stories. We live on a dirt road about a mile and a half from an old cemetery that's known to be 'haunted', we walk our friends to it at dusk with lanterns. At the end of the night we watch "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow", the cartoon not the movie. My mom started the tradition when I was a small child, we've watched it every year since. I always go overboard with the treats, candied apples, cakes, cookies, pumpkin pie, and a big pot of chili or stew. I'm excited! I might go ahead and get the decorations out today!

Halloween is my favorite holiday. We all dress up for Halloween and take the kids trick or treating. Sometimes my Dh and I go out for Halloween dressed up. I decorate the inside and outside for Halloween. And my youngest's B-day is real close to Halloween so it's a bonus. It's kinda a tradition in my family to dress up and go out for Halloween.

(I decorated a week ago already.)

It's my favourite holiday, but I'm currently living in a house full of people who ignore it so I kind of have to ignore it too and do my pagan stuff in private. Trick or Treat has never been a part of it for me (but penny-for-the-guy for 5th of november was when I was a child).

Next year when I'll (hopefully) be in our own place with my BF I'll be able to do something which is more appropriate.
I may manage to talk them into letting me leave a candle to burn in the doorway, though.

I love Halloween.. It is one of my fav holidays.

I love to dress up. And go trick or treating. When I was in High School my friends and I still went. And when some one said we were to old. We asked them if they would rather us do harmless trick or treating. Or toilet paper their house or car. Then they didnt have a problem with it.

After I stopped trick or treating. I still dressed up and handed out candy to kids.

But now i have my own kids. And now I am back out there trick or treating. And dressing up..

My family decorated the house all out for every holiday on the calander. I should get my decorations out. Even though I may not be in this house for halloween.

I used to sit on the porch in costume and scare the bejebees out of kids when we lived in town. THAT was fun!

Now I'm in the boonies so I don't see anyone. Wouldn't even know it was Halloween out here.

Halloween is my favorite time of the year. The chill in the air and the wood smoke... Crunch of leaves under foot... Apple cider and powdered dounuts... Peek of the rut during bow season...
I like to stay home to wait on Trick or treaters, even though we get very few due to living in a remote area. We do go to an annual Halloween Party, which is a blast(weekend before halloween)
Favorite Halloween movie, It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!
Favorite scary movie, Halloween...
