Our gorgeous bantam black cochin roo, darth vader just died today. I am still in complete shock over what just happened. He was such a sweet heart, and I am just heart broken. About 2 days ago we found out that he had a small mite infestation which had caused him over only maybe a week or so to drop a ton of weight and within the last few days his comb had become very pale. Upon inspection we realized he had a fairly bad mite infestation so we dusted him and his girlfriends, who luckily have no contact with any of the other birds, with mite powder and figured we'd be able to take care of the problem. Went out there the next morning and Vader was laying like he was dead and I freaked out, but he was still holding on. I brought him in and took special care of him and just went to check and he was dead. This has really made me open up my eyes to be more aware to check my birds. I will never forget my special guy, just wanted to let everyone know.
