I assume that the chicken was free roaming if it ate such an assortment of stuff - just another reason why I don't free roam my chickens -

They just started freeranging for about an hour a day maybe a week ago. This issue has been going on since before then. She (as well as the others) has access to grass in the run and I can't prevent things from blowing in there (i.e., the pine needles). She is the only one that has ever had this issue....hopefully, she will be the last.

This didn't happen because she free ranges. She may just have a thing about eating everything she finds and it caught up with her. Mine free rang all day, every day and so far not one compacted crop - but if it does happen, i hope to do as good a job as PamB!
