We had been trying to coax this poor little dog to us for a couple of weeks but she was too leery and wouldn't come near nor let anyone near her. Guess hunger finally won out over fear, and after a long coaxing session with food we were able to sneak a lead on her

while she was distracted. Immediately after getting the lead on her she lost almost all fear of us and basically acted like she'd known us forever. Happy and playful and acting like she owned us.

She has some painted hair, is skin over bones, has sore feet, acts like she's been hit a lot, and is afraid of men. She looks like a rough-coated JRT. My daughter says I should name her.

We have the same thing happen with cats here! We have had about 10 cats dumped here within the last year. I get them spayed or neutered and find them a new home or keep 'em myself! Good luck!

Thanks everyone!

She seems to enjoy it here and is already pretty much a family member, so I guess she wants to stay.

My cat likes dog friends but I think she's never been around cats. She barked at him and he can't believe she'd act so undignified, so that's going to take them a few weeks to work through, lol. No biggie.

We gave her a basic exam, vaccinated her, cleaned her up a bit and clipped her nails (that was loads of fun, lol), and will have her checked for worms after the holiday and scanned for a chip.

The other stray we found was just a very tiny puppy at the time. That one is barely at weight to be spayed and that's scheduled to be done in a few weeks. (The new kid on the block will be spayed at the same time if she's up to it by then.)

Still haven't thought of a name that fits her.

Update...she's doing really good! In all good health and she's gaining a little weight and seems happy as a new family member. She's gaining confidence daily and has a great, intelligent, assertive

personality which has been used to our benefit in basic training.

She was possessive over items when she first came to us and would growl and nip like a puppy dealing with litter mates, but now she's learned some basic obedience (she's such a smart pup!!) and there's no more growling or baring teeth over items...she stills plays with humans with her mouth but family members are being trained out of that & they already know better. So, everybody else has been put on down-stay and it's her & me until everybody minds their manners, lol. She learned quickly to be attentive and has learned the commands "get it", "bring it", and "drop it" with a variety of items from her beloved toys to kitchen utensils to cell phones...whatever is dropped or tossed across the room. We've a long way to go in training but she's having fun and sleeping soundly at night.

Family has been lovingly calling her Sybil after that old movie, but I see her as a princess that will rise above her former treatment, so I will call her Sadie. Sadie is sweetie.

Thanks much! I've been having problems with pics and my phone for a while now, including uploading this pups photos...the other day I had to have somebody txt me my own pics in order to get them online.

This little girl loves to chase a light around on the floor and play ball. Obedience training is going good and she's pretty much got potty training down pat. Hopefully when things calm down a bit I'll get somebody to do her pics (we've had several days with things being a little hectic because of injury care with a different sweetie-pie rescued pup)...she's gained good weight (still has a ways to go) and is calm in the house but a good mix of bundles of energy in spurts during play several times a day. The residuals from cancers treatment fallout doesn't allow me to be as active like I once was, but between walks in the evening when it's cooler, playing ball, and chasing the lights on the floor she's getting plenty of good exercise.

She stands up and quickly waves her front paws when she sees something she likes or when she wants to potty. She does this often when she sees the other puppy but we can't let them be together for right now.
