Ok, I got my first egg today.

It's small. What does everyone do with these small beginner eggs?
My sister in law gives them to her dogs as a treat because they are too small to eat.
This one might be about half size? I'd like to hear what you all do. Me? I might blow out the contents and paint it gold and mount it on a plaque for all the effort it took me to get to this point!

CONGRATULATIONS!

We got our first egg on Monday and now we have THREE. Two very small ones from a Buff Orp and one medium egg from a RIR

We are saving them up until we have enough for a nice spinach, swiss, and mushroom omelet! I figure that the first dozen or so costs about $50.00 each!

You got that right! That's a good idea! It had not even occurred to me that the eggs could be saved until there was enough for an omlet or something. Thanks!

My first Buff O hen just started laying. I've got six medium eggs in the last nine days from her and I'm EGGstatic! Check out my avitar with egg #1! I'm hoping for six more in the next ten days or so and scrambled eggs on day eleven.

coolcanoechic What kind of chicken do you have that laid that egg? I love the speckled eggs! :D

I have a Dutch Welsummer Bantam that lays those - looks just like it. I imagine the regular Welsummers do too. The speckles vary with each egg - sometimes there's almost none other times all over it.

There is no egg too small to eat. The little ones are great scrambled, hard boiled, put into French toast, etc.
