Soaked Alflafa/hay cubes?

Has anyone tried this with the chickens? we have no grass, were definitely starting to head into winter. I already have some because it's used with our horses so it's not an added expense.
 
Yep, they worked well for my chickens. I soaked them in hot water for an hour until I could stir them apart. Then threw the clumps of hay in the pen. The chickens ate all but the toughest stems. Have used pellets too, they are easier to soften, but of course not as close to real alfalfa.

Perfect! yes, we soak ours for the horses too. I have some waiting. Should be fun to see their reaction.
