Soaking up the sun-do chickens normally do this?

Here's Vivienne, soaking up the California sun. She'll stay like this for about 20 minutes. I'm new to having chickens, but am quickly learning they certainly have fun personalities. All she needs is a margarita! Our cat Phillis wants her chair back.

yes they do my chickens go outside and sit and sleep in the sun all day and dont move untill it goes dark

Oh yeah! My girls love to find a sunny dirt hole and pretend they're soaking up rays at the beach! Too cute!!

Makes sense to me... considering the first while is spent under a heat lamp or mom's bum they clearly like being warm and toasty... and with cooler weather.... yeah, makes sense. Also, the fact that cats, dogs, humans, and even snakes do it... doesn't seem a stretch that birds would too.

Oh yes! Ours will often flop down almost involuntarily, then try to get back up and fail miserably... we thought they were dying at first.
