I wondered this myself?? or would the lye turn the Pam into soap right along with the other oils?

it wasnt toooo hard to get my heart molds out .. buuuut.. i did have to compleatly turn the mold inside out to get them.

I've thought the same thing. I have Celtic knot molds and some sea shell molds that are tricky to release without messing the soap up. But I have used the freezer trick and it seems to help but those sea shells are still hard to do even then.

hi all i am very interested in making soap..... however i have a few questions.
do you have to use goats milk?
i need an easy recipie.
and if you dont use goats milk what do you use?
thank everyone.

No you don't have to use milk. It's actually harder to make and not reccomended for the first time soap maker. I would try to find the book Soap Makers Companion. I forget how to spell the author's name. You can also check out Kathy Miller's site She has beginer recipes there.

Yes--any oil-based spray will just get saponified during the process. Plus you've now added chemicals to your nice, natural soap!

What I find with silicone is that the soap comes out of it like glass, slick as a whistle...as long as I'm patient and wait for it about twice as long as I wait to unmold other batches. The deep Uplands block mold that I have takes a really long time to set all the way into the corners.

MLF~thank you for sharing sites you use on your website. I ordered from Southern Garden Scents and got the Lavenilla & Oatmeal Milk and Honey and wow do they smell good. I also didn't realize how big 4 oz was cause I was expecting this little bottles and boy was I surprised. My cousin (like a sister to me) is coming down and I am going to teach her what I know so we can make soap toghther. She loved her Christmas gift so much she wanted to learn and help me. Thanks everyone for sharing what you know about making soap and teaching all us newbies to soap too!
