Yes--any oil-based spray will just get saponified during the process. Plus you've now added chemicals to your nice, natural soap!
What I find with silicone is that the soap comes out of it like glass, slick as a whistle...as long as I'm patient and wait for it about twice as long as I wait to unmold other batches. The deep Uplands block mold that I have takes a really long time to set all the way into the corners.
With my silicone mold I waited less than 24 hours and, sitting on the kitchen table, they just popped out.
The reason I asked about cooking spray is that I have seen in recipes to pour your soaps into a lined or well greased mold ... so what would one 'grease' with?
I'm probably going to make a log mold. (I think that's what they're called) So I can cut some normal type bars as well.
