Soap Makers Help!

I'm going to use pumpkin puree and cinnamon eo for mine. I forgot the pumkin scent on my last order (why I don't know, didn't realize it till I got the order) so that's what I have on hand that seemed like it would go with pumpkin. I'm through a little cassia and clove eo in there too.

Another view for Morgaine of the swirled bar...

Top Carrot juice PEACH Chips....all I had left.
White Grapefruit....soaped with PINK Grapefruit Juice (did NOT work)
Green Tea Pear (this was my first BAR ever...it is over 3 years old)
Grapefruit CARROT Juice and a PINCH of Red Iron Oxide (I mean a DUST actually....only had a smidge of it left in the bag and this is the color is came out....sold out in 2 shows) Mistakes are cool like that sometimes.
2 year old Orange Juice ROUND bar...Fresh orange EO...very nice.

I need to add...that these bars that I soaped with CITRUS....were VERY HARD BARS and they all gelled.

I always wheel and deal....
I had a customer come and ask me how much for one for every flavor...I had 12 flavors that day....gave her two free bars. Good selling practice is sliding scale. I sell my soap at Chickenstocks and craft fairs....and if you are standing in front of me...you will get my soap cheaper than online.

Those are really old bars of soap....in my confetti bin...just FYI so colors have faded.

Tried my frist two batches this weekend and....

. They were a complete disaster. Not only can I not tell trace when it reaches out and bites me, I seized both batches and it looks like they both separated soo much that they are lye heavy now. Does that commonly happen when a batch siezes? I did a cucumber melon one that looks (even with the siezing) and smells great, but I did a tounge test and got zapped.

I poured almost 12 oz of oil off of it before I cut it. It was only a 35oz batch. Can you get any additional saponification to happen with a re-batch?

I'll post pics tonight after I get home.

That sounds like a really bad seperation. I would go to millersoaps.com and read her page about seperations and trouble shooting. What was your recipe and what fragrance (supplier) did you use? If your soap is lye heavy like that, I really don't think that you can rebatch it. I would throw it away.

Good luck and don't let it stop you.
