Soap Makers Help!

I worked into the soapcalc.net and it does work out okay at a 38% water discount(gm). Maybe one of the others who used the recipe will answer you and let you know how it worked out. I really would like to try this with a buttermilk sometime.

URGH....I soaped tonight...used liquid chlorophyll in two batches and ITS BROWN!! NOT happy with liquid chlorophyll lately...this is the 3rd batch with lc that I've goofed up. I'm still hoping it'll soap back to green...but I doubt it. I'll post photos when I slice!

I just checked on it...it looks a little greener...not sure though. I'm thinking that since I used goatsmilk...maybe it reacted with the lc.

But on a better note...my oatmeal milk and HONEY turned out fabulous....as did the confetti Chamomile.

Can't wait to see pix on the new soap, cheeptrick! I hope everything is OK with the liquid chlorophyll. As mine has sat for these 4+ weeks, it has stayed green except that it turned a tad brown around the edges just where ash formed. I think that's fixable.

Morgaine - Congrats on your new molds!!! Yay!

I have a question . . . .

At a garden meeting today, we discussed soap sales and several folks indicated a desire for sage soap. I went to the soap review board and can't seem to get it to load - actually, it loads but the page is blank.

Off hand, do any of you have any thoughts on Sage/Clary Sage EO? Is it OK on its own or is it better in a blend? I'm trying to figure out how much/little I need to order, especially because the cost per ounce is a little higher than I've been paying with most of my fragrances. I tried researching the percentage amount and couldn't really find it. I'm lost without the scent review board!!!

Is your chlorophyll old? The only time I have had it turn brown was when it got a lot of sun. Did you gell? I always make sure to gell soaps with chlorophyll because the colors are so much more vibrant.

I can still get on, but I have seen several people on the dish can't. I think the owner is working on the problem.

I haven't used sage, though it is on my list to try some time. I think it is an eo that does better in blends than alone, though I guess it depends on the person. I want to try blending with lime and thyme or with lavender. As far as usage rates, I'm sure you could .4-.6 oz ppo and it be well scented. Less even if you wanted a lighter scent. Check out rainbow meadow.

I soaped a new soap I'm calling gothic rose. It's sandalwood rose fo blended with a little patchouli. I like it better blended with the patch than alone. i have some other blends on cotton balls that I'm waiting to see how they turn out. One stunk really bad at first, but two days later it is really nice! It's rose geranium, lavender and patchouli. I also mixed cucumber melon, peppermint, spearmint. Yuzu, peppermint, spearming and rosemary. And I'll be doing MLF Pepper Zest some time this week. I added a tough of patchouli to make the citrus stick a little better.

That new Gothic Rose soap sounds wonderful!!! Did you blend it yourself or follow the guide at Rainbow Meadow? Thanks for that link!

Yes, I've read the comments going back to the beginning of the month about the problems at the SRB. I could get on until late last week and I'm not sure what changed between then and now. I've tried both Foxfire and IE and can't get on with either. It doesn't work on my husband's computer, either. If I get desperate enough, I'll try it on the kids but since they have Glubble on their computer, it takes a bit of work to get past all the filters.

Could I beg you to do me a favor??? I'm thinking of placing an order with TSW for several items and would like to keep my shipping costs down by narrowing to fewer manufacturers. Their price per ounce for Clary Sage is pretty good in the 14.5 ounce size, even lower than EOU. But, what I was hoping for was to compare the Dalmatian Sage and the Clary Sage. Dalmatian is supposed to be the superior fragrance but blends with fewer EOs. I'd also like an idea of the 5X orange. But, if TSW isn't the best place for these, then I don't want to go that route, either.

What other EO's should I be looking at?

It soaped back to green...it did gell...could not stir with all the chips in it. The lc is brand new...just opened. It almost seized in the pan....I poured fast. chlorophyll is temperamental.

I'll post photos when I slice later this afternoon.

I ordered enough stuff to get me through the holiday season! DH and I went and got me a small personal loan and I just got done ordering stuff. All I'll have to do is order small things here and there like packaging and what not. I'm so excited

I ordered all kinds of stuff. It's gonna be just like Christmas when it gets here. When DH and I were leaving the bank he said that UPS man was just going to love me lol. Then I wasn't paying attention when he said that except for hearing UPS man and I started looking around

he got a good laugh out of that.
