Soap Makers Help!

WOOT!!!

That sound fantastic!! I loved to trade you for some of that soap!

How long to leave it in the mold? Are you insulating it for gel?? If so, then wait until the gel is completed and the soap is cool. If not, wait until the soap is hard enough to come out of the molds!!

Longer than you think, and MUCH longer than you have patience for.

I can't wait to see how it turns out. The big batch has already gone through the gel phase - all the way to the edges. The molded soaps haven't yet, so I just stuck a heating pad over there with them to help them along.

I figure if they haven't gelled at 3.5 hours, they probably don't have enough insulation to help the process.

I hope these turn out well enough to do a trade. That'd be fun!

Seriously, though--you'll think they're ready, and you'll pop one out and put a fingerprint in it, and then punch anyone unfortunate enough to be standing nearby.

So with individual molds and CP, I always wait a LONG time.

So I have tons of herbal tea in various flavors, and no one really likes the taste, but the smells are absolutely wonderful, so could I use really strong tea for the liquid?

I was told that you can use tea.. and you can even just put the tea bags in the water with the lye as it heats the water up it steeps the tea .. all in the same step.. I am going to do a green tea soap..

maybe I should do that to my lard soap... hmmm....

oh and from my crazy story cant find my FO's

I found them!!!

I just love the smell of the grapefruit.... I will have to do that one first.. but I just cant make up my mind what oils to use..

Has anyone figured out when we might do the swap? I was thinking about sending a chocolate soap along. Everyone here that I have given it to likes it. Are we just sending one bar or a couple? I'm hoping to make more soap tomorrow somewhere in between making cinnamon rolls

Everytime I read new posts here I am intimidated and excited at the same time!! I LOVE seeing all the great soaps you all are making and I am really eager to get started myself but man it sure looks a bit overwhelming! This is a big jump from melt and pour soaping!! I'm hoping to gather the rest of my supplies this coming weekend, the stick blender and scales and thermometers and hopefully find some lye in town. Keep posting the pictures ya'll, they are AWESOME!!!!
