Soap Makers Help!

I have two 42-bar & two 30-bar Kelsei molds (plus a 4 chamber FCS vertical mold for bulk log soaps). If I really let my inventory get low, I can make two scents in each of the Kelsei molds. Since they are divided molds, no cutting, just a quick trim. They have saved my butt on many occasion.

Hello there! Been several months since I've been on byc and quite sometime since I've soaped. Like another poster commented, your productivity inspires me!

You mentioned you make a master batch. Can you tell me how you do that, or do you have instructions on this site already? I think it would be great to already have that done, and then when I wanted to make a batch or 2, would save me the step of measuring each oil. I wish I lived closer to your area. I would love to attend your event you posted. I would love to learn to spin and weave.

It's something I've always been interested in. Oh well, maybe someday! It's good to see this thread is still going strong! I learned to make soap from this site. Always helpful and nice. Thanks for your contributions, Cyndi!
(I changed my username from dshappychicks to OHhappychicks, just in case you wondered who on earth this is!)

Debbie,
My large buckets can hold 37 lb of oil, so I simply make up a batch of soaping oils totally 37 pounds. Pour into my large buckets, stir well and let cool, stirring along the way. When I'm ready to make soap, I weigh out the total amount of oils I need for my molds, calculate the amount of lye and liquid and proceed as normal.

Makes soaping so much more convenient!

A while back someone posted a link to a website that sold all the soap colorants and other supplies. They also sold kits and stuff too but you could buy individual items. Does anyone know what site it might be? Or if you could just tell me what sites you use to order supplies from that's be fine too. thanks!

I buy from multiple suppliers. It helps keep my costs way down. Some places that have inexpensive FO's might charge double for lye or colorants. I just order everything I need at once to make shipping worth it.

Help needed please. Has anyone made Susan cavitch's Blowin in the Wind laundry soap recipe? I've shredded all the soap, but boy oh boy does it look like too much soap for the 8 cups water/2 cups vinegar? I've read and reread the recipe and think I'm misreading it. Do I use ALL the shredded soap, or a portion? Thanking you in advance.
