Soap Makers Help!

I am new to making soap. I have 4 or 5 batches done. Right now, I am using molds from Hobby Lobby. I am looking into getting a bigger mold. I was wondering if you guys could direct me to the right place to get one.

Here is some of my soap I have done. All of it is Goat Milk Soap, but some of it is scented.

I would love to make one, but I would have to have my husband help and he has been so busy here lately. I thought if I could buy one that wasn't overly expense. I would love anyones input in that works best for them. Thanks

I ordered a 4 pound one from Camden-Grey and I just ordered one from Kelsei's Creations and I'm hoping it will get shipped soon because I can't wait to use it. I have ordered milkway molds as well from Camden-Grey and I have bought molds from Jo-anne farbrics as well. I also made one but it was for a quick fix and I don't like it.

Sebrightmom,
You will never find a mold cheaper than the one you make yourself. Go to Lowes and ask them to cut a 1 x 6 however long you want your mold (plus the thickness of 1 3/4 inches)...this is your base. Then get a 1 x 4 and have them cut two pieces to the same length as the width of the base...these will be your ends. Then from the same 1 x 4 cut two sides that are the length of the base minus 1 3/4 inches. Take it home and glue it together using carpenters wood glue. Of course if you have a finishing nailer and some clamps that helps a lot. If you had all the pieces cut it wouldn't take your DH more than about 10 minutes to get the thing together. OR, you could do like Don did in a previous post on this thread and get some PVC rain gutter and snap on external ends with gaskets.

so its really your olders and father who need a beating huh!!! my 6 year old says somethings some times that baffle me... I just tell him that is not ok to talk that way and he better straighten up then he gets to have a meeting up close with the wall!!!!

last time I told him to count the molecules in the paint!!! he said wha? I said stand there till you figure it out!!! it was 6 minutes. he never figured it out. when my kids get a whoopin i make them count the swats and inbetween I make them say something like" I will not say bad words" I HATE doing that and it seems like it worked because I have to do it less and less each time! they just dont think MOM means business when she says stop!!! and when my hubbs is out of town its worse they know dad isnt here to back me up...

best of luck and I hope the stress goes aways or is relieved soon!

You can download log mold directions from www.chestnutfarms.com

I made mine myself with minimal effort. It's similar to what birdbrain described but it has hinges on the sides to make for easier removal from the mold.

I love my Kelsei molds!

I call this "The hand of wisdom on the seat of understanding." Not to be applied with anger.

My kids (22, 21, 16) says M.O.M. stands for Mean Ol' Mother.

Now that you make soap, you can tell them, "I make soap and I'm not afraid to use it!!"
