Soap Makers Help!

Oops sorry.. I thought I read calendula somewhere... confused as usual. Calendula is also called pot marigold (not the same as the marigold you normally find in 6 packs for your flower bed) and is great for soap and herbal stuff. I used to buy it in bulk from sanfrancisco herb co...

Oh yeah. Sorry. I meant to answer this one, too, but I'm too busy conversing with you over at FB.

Yes, insiderart got it correct. But, it's also a snap to grow if you want to do your own. It re-seeds itself very easily and is tolerant of less than ideal growing conditions.

I have some packets I want to plant, including both the standard orange and yellow but also a peachy color that I hope would keep the color as well as the others do. Will let you know how it goes.

Just order some seed... super easy to grow, just like BB says. I think I wanted my stuff right away and bulk herbs are so cheap at sfherb that I just added it in.

I am this close to pulling the trigger... Just costs so much to get started...

Hey guys! If I send her a smell sample, maybe we'll pull her over to the dark side!

Sure, PM me with a contact address and I'll send you an end piece.

You'll probably find the seeds easier than the plant. I managed to get some at a nursery, but only by leaving my telephone number and having them call me when they happened to get some in. They'll likely have the seeds, tho.

hee hee hee. Or, I send an end piece and some palm or PKO. You send an end piece and some coconut oil, etc. Then she'd HAVE to soap!

OMG! You ladies are bad, bad I tell you!....

BB I'll Pm you here in a sec, you're very sweet to me!

You know you can buy lard here... I bet it makes good soap. But you all know.. it's expensive to buy say coconut oil... shea butter... I don't have a stick blender or an enamel pan to cook it in right now either. I have some old essential oils.. some are still ok I think. But I would have to spend quite a bit on the basics. I'm still mulling it over...

It can be expensive to get started. Perhaps you can start by collecting some of the items at garage sales - or let friends know that you're looking for an old pan, a stick blender, etc. - kind of like a scavenger hunt for soaping supplies.

You could do some grocery store batches initially until you can slowly add the other ingredients.
