Soap Makers Help!

Okay... I was thinking. With that soap of mine that has the shaved soap on top that kinda sits up a bit. Wouldn't the shrinkwrap break off those pieces? I know I'm being a pain but I'm really not sure how to package them and still keep them looking nice.

That is always a problem for me too...which I why I make both topped and plain. I'm thinking shrinkwrap is your best bet...so what if it breaks up a little...it'll still be in the package.

I just cut 70 bars of Dragon's Blood this morning. I'll post pic once they darken so you can see the gold swirl better. Right now they are an odd beige color. I'm so worried that I'm not going to have enough soap for the Renaissance festival that is only 10 DAYS AWAY!!! OMG! Stress!

I'm soaping another blend this morning, I'm going to call it All Hallow's Eve. It's going to be a black base and I'm going to swirl with every color that I have! I've been putting it off but I need to do it so it is ready for Holloween. I might do another batch of Burberry for men too. It's a really nice scent. I like it a lot better in soap than I do oob.

Corrie, have you thought about just putting a cigar band on them? No box or plastic wrap? Or what about organza bags? And I would love to know how it is you got that swirl in the autumn harvest soap, I wish I could swirl like that! I try but it just doesn't turn out right.

I have a question for all you that have done festivals, how do you set up your space so that the cash box is easy to get to, but out of the way also? I'll be posting pictures later this week, but I'm trying to get my tent display worked out and I'm not sure were to store my cash box. Suggestion?

And does anyone have Peddler Shows in your area and have you ever been to one? THey have them here in Texas and it looks like they are good shows, though I think the fee is really for just one weekend. ($350-ish they vary some) But I wonder if they are worth it? I'm stopping by the one in College Station this weekend to see what it is like. Here is a link http://www.peddlershow.com/

I have a cash box...and I'm also looking into taking credit cards...but not sure I want to go that far face to face...the website takes credit cards though and I can tell folks to order from there.

I like to cover my cash drawer UP...PLUS it stays in my hand the entire time. Never leave it...I also...keep half of the cash in MY front pocket...in case I do need some change. I just like keeping $30 or so in $1's and 5's. That way folks do not see HOW FULL your cash drawer is. Tip my uncle taught me...

AND know about shrink...it happens!! Which just makes ME

I did a show once...only came home with $200 and did inventory...and should have had like $300 for the amount of soap that was missing.

COUNT your bars before you go...so you can keep track. I learned this VERY quick and the hard way!

Brandy, that's horrible that people took that much! I like your idea about keeping in your pocket, though my ren skirt doesn't ahve one. I think I'm going to talk to do dh and see what we can do. He is so tired from putting in that hardwood floor and it's only half way done. He was having to to put each nail in manually. He may look forward to a break!

I will definitely be keeping count there. I have only had one bar lifted at the farmer's market so far.

I also wanted to tell you that I really liked the look of the Chamomile confetti and the pumpkin spice looks awesome too!

I just wanted to say thank you all so much for this! I have been wanting to make soap for years and finally just got the courage this week. This thread is full of helpful resoursces and knowledgable folks. I appreciate you.

The pumpkin spice is what I'm sending to the swap...I think. NO tin tie bags YET...supposed to be mailed on the 9th. So I'll be right down to the wire. I'll put the soap in the tin tie bags and sampler muslin tea bag. MLF is right...I'm starting to have second thoughts on using the rose absolute in the bath teas 1ml for $20 is like liquid gold. (do not buy is from L-be-rm-th...I know of cheaper) PLUS it smells heavenly...I'll just use it all for myself!! BUT I will use Fall Harvest in the bath teas...instead...to stick to the theme. I'm putting a little something in there for you Amber for hosting the swap too!! (-;
