Soap Makers Help!

This is weird! It's the first time I've used my pvc molds. I've made this recipe before, but I added about 3 oz of sugar cookies FO from Peak candle. I greased the molds with vaseline. Not only is the color weird, but there's a weird line of bubbles around them both at just about the same height. I sliced them and they look normal...




So is it from the vaseline?

wow that's interesting! Mine hasn't done that, I am interested to see what the more experience soapers have to say. I wonder if it also might of heated up alot. Did you insulate it?

I never insulate my milk soaps. I use frozen milk and chop it up into a slurry.

I think the darker color may be from where it started to shrink away from the mold and air got in. Now that the bars are cut there's no difference in color inside or out.

As for the weird bubbles

well folks.. after many hours of non soap making and lots of studying .. IM BACK! but this time as a full fledged RN BSN.. so now I am going to have to spend days reading this thread to catch up on soap making..

I made enough soap to last me the whole year.. and only had to stop take a break and make two batches that is if I can remember correctly.. sooo with that said I need to restock.. and need some good recipes.. and maybe would like to join any swaps coming up.. oh it feels so good to be done and have a career started.

I haven't got to make any new soap since the lemongrass but got all my stuff to make two batches tomorrow or Friday! I'm thinking pumkinspice, hot apple pie & peperment (two batches of soap, one split into two FO smells)

Which soap do you want pix of? The round one from the pvc? It all darkened to a solid color.

I once again planned to soap tonight but instead spent the day at the hospital ER with my grandma, she is okay but I am just too tired to soap!

Rocky, Do you use a straight cut on your pvc soap or a crinkle? I am hoping to make some little car soaps on the batch that I can't seem to get made, thought it might be fun for little boys. Hope the mold holds up.

My sis went to the fair & called me to let me know that she saw at least three booths selling homemade soap! LOL.
