Soap Makers Help!

With selling soap you need to be sure your labels are correct ... and that you don't make ANY claims.... yup, even saying moisturising is a claim and puts you in a cosmetic catagory.... bug off? oh that's even worse... the EPA wants to get involved.

technically you don't have to list your ingredients if it is "just soap"..... but I do. I use the INCI names and that way I encourage my customers to google the EOs I use....that way I don't have to make a claim .... my customers are educating themselves and feel better about buying my products.

Marie Gale has a great book on labeling... I think you can get it from Amazon.

I also do not sell a thing without insurance which I get thru the Soapmakers Guild.

I know, lots of folks make lots of claims.... but they will wish they had not if the FDA, EPA gets wind of it and they are in the mood to make an example of one of us....

I figure if it is worth my time, it is worth my taking the time to do it right and sell it safely and correctly labeled.

I thought I would post a picture of my booth from the renaissance festival I am doing. Here is my booth. It's mostly set up, I still didn't have all the stock out yet when I took it.
