I went on FB. From what I gather, a vet declared a chicken to have Virulent Newcastle Disease. More cases in that area developed, so the govt. set a perimeter, and all birds within that perimeter fell under mandatory euthanasia. The workers doing the euthanizing came with pump pellet guns. They pumped some of the chickens with pellets, not always killing them, or killing them on the first shot, or two. Then they began shoving LIVE, and dead birds into bags, breaking their legs first. There was NOTHING humane about the way the chickens were dispatched.

Due to the scare, in other areas, people taking sick chickens to the vet were reported. No testing was done to confirm the disease. When that person was reported, again, a perimeter was set up, so any neighboring flocks were to be destroyed too, Again, no testing to confirm the disease, and again no humane euthanasia.

Yes, you are correct. The video u viewed with the shooting at chickens with pellet guns, is a gal named Karen. She has other animals on the property that were under duress. Chickens were hit, but alive. You can hear them just trying to run to safety.

I'll try to summarize your situation the way I understand it:

In December 2018, Kerri was informed by the state that a bird nearby had gotten Newcastle's. In April, CDFA reps showed up to test, but as they could not produce proper ID, Kerri turned them away. The week of the 13th, she was reassured by state vet Annette Jones that no action would be taken until Monday 4/22. However, on 4/19 (Good Friday), CDFA came to Kerri's door with Riverside County sheriffs and a warrant good through 4/22, then proceeded to kill her chickens and her kid's pet turkey in view of them using methods that did not seem humane, nor did it seem to her to follow due process.

Kerri, is this an accurate view of what has happened?

It's not the first story of its kind, either. I think it comes down to people who've been given orders to do a specific thing (cull all birds in an area) without any proper direction about why or how or with what method.
