Soft Duck Eggs

It can be a nutrient deficiency maybe reproduction issues. Sometimes even a duck that is eating the best feed it can still have problems some how not getting all they need out of the feed. I am not a vet but I will suggest this that you start her on Calcium citrate and Liquid b complex Calcium citrate can be found at most pharmacies ( Walmart) and the liquid b complex is at TSC most likely in the cattle section it will say injectable but we use it orally 1 ml 2x a day over a yummy treat and 50 Mgs of calcium citrate per lb of body weight this may or may not help but we won’t know till you try. Def worth trying for at least a week.

What breed is she? @Tembery
What do you feed your birds do you give oyster shell on the side? Have you ever provided extra niacin or b complex. Does she have any weak ness in her legs? Are they bowed at all.
I Am feeding her Purina pellets for ducks and yes I have oyster shell out for her and yes am giving her Vitamins in her water that has niacin and B in it. It is called Durvet Vitamin & Electrolytes for poultry. I also been giving her Red worms and mill worms daily now. As far as weekends in her leg she walks fine. She falls backwards when cleaning her self and goes to her down gland and when she cleaning underneath her. Like she losing her balance Yesterday was terrible she kept stumbling backwards and falling and rolled down the hill after she got out of the pond trying to clean herself and put her down on until she was completely muddy all over. She managed to get to her coop before I got out side to her. I brought her in put her in my bathtub washed mud off with warm water and then let her soak in a epsom salt bath for 1/2 hour Then it’s like after she has a egg are the soft shell ones too she gets better but not completely. She never done this before. I have been dealing with this for 2 month now. I love her she my baby and it hurts to see her going threw this

If you’ll Look up Metzers web site about why are my ducks legs bowed it will explain. Also ducks need at least 100 Mgs to 125 Mgs of niacin a day look an see what the Durvet has.

Soft shell can be helped by extra calcium citrate. This could be something else entirely but at least start with the liquid b complex and the extra calcium and see how that goes!
