Hi everyone! I just recently got 4 Rhode Island reds, after not having chickens for a few years. the woman I got them from said they’re 12-13 months old and laying, but expect to have a day or two with no eggs from the stress of moving. Todays our third morning with them. Day 1, we had 1 egg and one popped soft egg. Day 2, I found another popped soft egg, and bits of another one (they ate it). Today, day 3, I found two more soft eggs. I was able to take one out of the nesting box, and the other was laid this afternoon, in the middle of the run, and they immediately all ran over to eat it 🤢. They’re eating layer pellets and I have oyster shells available for them. Does this sound normal while they’re settling in?

Not unusual for stress to cause problematic eggs. Did the previous owner mention if they provided their birds with a calcium source? If not, that could also take a few weeks to resolve.
