Soft shells

Hi there.. I'm a new hen owner of 5 beautiful girls. They just started laying about 2 months ago. I've had at least 1 soft shell egg for the last 3 weeks. Is this normal?? I offer them oyster shell in there run everyday, and they all seem to pick at it. Any suggestions?? Thx a bunch!

It is normal, not to worry you are doing the right thing by offering oyster shells. This is a common thing in new hens laying.. mine that are about a year old do the same once in awhile.. I think they are so neat, the kids find them interesting..
One thing I would suggest is don't feed them egg shells it will turn them into egg eaters.. at least it did mine..
