I have a small flock (13 hens), generate about 7 dozen eggs in the high season, and sell the eggs to people in the neighborhood, referrals, colleagues at work, etc. I have about 20 active customers, and it gets cumborsome to keep track of orders, inventory, and revenue. I have developed a spreadsheet that works ok, but I find that I spend most of my time making manual changes -- it feels very inneficient.

Has anyone had any luck with free software to manage egg sales, production, and customer information? Or any tips for how to keep it all straight?

Thanks!

After trying numerous programs that were really good, but not quite what I needed, my dear wife grew tired of the countless hours that I was spending testing out these programs. So, she finally convinced me to create my own. What a daunting task! I tried Access, but it made me want to pull someone's hair out! So I turned to Excel. I had to learn some programming to get more features, but finally, I have a product that I'm proud of. While I work on figuring out how to make this workbook public, email me for a copy.

Well, for the most part, I kinda gave up since there was no program in my price range that could do exactly what I needed. The closest that I got was with a default Access database that I tweaked as best I could, but still wasn't thrilled with the end results. We sell eggs that vary in color, so we stopped selling white or brown only and just went with the mixed dozen for one set price. We sell at a local farmers market, so no need to really track customers. However, totally unrelated to cataloging, I did setup an email for people to request their dozens ahead of time so that we could guarantee availability or advise if we wouldn't have any in. Sorry that I couldn't be of more help.

Did you ever find a good program/app?
