I seen a solar light for coops and wondered if anyone has it? It is $100 + $18 shipping to me.

Henlight Plug-In System
Our newest product, The Backyarder, a the same great quality you expect from Henlight, but instead of solar and battery powered, it runs off a standard outlet, offering backyard chicken hobbyist and small scale farmers a lower-cost option with the flexibility of lighting to fit your specific coop size. It includes:

  • Intelligent timer means set it and forget it
  • Control unit with easy to use functions
  • Light-increaser mimics sunlight, rising up over 30 minutes
  • Poultry-specific LED
  • 3W solar panel to power the sun tracking timer
  • AC charging capability so it never needs a battery
  • Adjustable brightness levels allow for semi-custom lighting, making it perfect for coops between 128 square feet and 16 square feet.

If you have electricity and wireless internet, this one shows a 110 plug the solar panel just gauges sunrise/sunup then I would suggest something like this:

I use this, and many more around the house for different stuff, you can control it with an app on your phone. It can use sunrise/sunup but as of now it does not allow to turn on before sunrise just after. Future software updates will likely add even more functionality. I have my lights come on in coop at 445 am until 8:00 am and I started in August, bumping the light up as the days get shorter. I just check the weather app on my phone every couple of weeks and adjust it if I need to keep them at 14 hours. They come on abruptly, the chickens are used to it by now I expect. This flock were spring chickens this year, and MAY have laid all winter anyway but I wanted the insurance. I plan to turn off the lights the last two weeks of September next year when they are 18 months old to force a molt then back to 14 hours, we shall see how this goes.

I just bought a regular solar powered landscape 3 light system from HD. Less than $50. Have it facing down and to the east. Comes on before sundown that way. Don't know when it runs down. Some say leaving the light on a long time stresses the chickens because they can't sleep. Can't say but do know they sleep during the day. Maybe because I keep them up all night. A!

The 3 coops are 100 to 200' away from the nearest electrical and no wifi...I don't like tripping over a cord or in the winter plowing it up LOL
This is a light inside the coop to keep them laying in the winter.

I had something similar and it didn't seem to help laying. Maybe your is a better one.

Are you looking to light the inside or the outside? I have this (or one really similar) outside and it's been great.

this one stays on for 1-3 min, would be good for outside the coop, but the varmints turn on the ones on my home constantly.

Lights need to come on in the morning. You don't need to plunge them into darkness suddenly at the end of the day. You don't need much light. The landscape type lights would be great if they had a timer so they come on at a certain time, say 3am, or it they just come on 8 hours after dark. I'm still searching.
