The coop the chickens will be in is either 10x12 or 12x12 (ad said 12x12, but looks more like 10x12), though the front 4 feet will be used for storage. Will I need a fan for a coop this big, or would passive venting be sufficient? There will be less than a dozen chickens in it now, but we'll eventually have more I'm sure. Planning to do DLM, if that affects the ventilation requirements at all.
If I need a fan, are there any solar powered fan setups that might work without being expensive? I'm not sure how soon we'll have electricity hooked into the shed, though I do want it for a heated water dish and light this winter. The shed has a gambrel style roof, so there is lots of room up high to add venting, I'm just not sure the best way to go about it or how much to add. Any suggestions?
