Hello!
I just got my first flock! We're excited!
But now I'm worried. The local farm store sold me their last seven chicks. The gal at the counter admitted the chicks are 3 weeks old and may have gotten mixed up. They only sell black sex link, barred rock, wyandotte, and Americana.
Here's a pic and I'll try to get some close ups tomorrow of the feet and wings. Please tell me these are ladies!

Given what they sell, they are barred rocks, but 3 weeks is young to tell gender. BR males are double barred, while females are single barred, so males have a lighter appearance than females. It looks like these chicks are single barred so far, which would mean they are female. But the most definitive way to tell is to wait a little longer for the comb and wattles to develop (probably around another 2-3 weeks or so).

The white spots on their heads...do they look male or female?
I agree they look barred. I'll tell you my greatest fear is that they sold me black sex link males! 😥
They weren't marketed as meat chicks, but...who knows how careful the store employees were.🤷🏼‍♀️
The top pic shows feet of the bird at the bottom and bottom pic shows feet of the bird at the right side...they loooooook yellow with black wash to me...

I agree they're all barred rocks.
where do they get their chicks from? I've noticed most of the major hatchery BR are losing the ability to sex from the head spot, they've gotten more messy. With that, I believe you'd have to wait until they're 6-8 weeks to determine gender.

The six of them look like barred rocks. I will say some of them have really boy-like faces though. You will know in a week or two after they start to feather out more. The males will have much more white than the females on their wings and body.

Ok my preschooler helped me take some more pictures. 🤣

Thanks for all your more experienced opinions!!
