I was a power lineman for the Air Force for 17 years and spent my time doing base power line and substation maintenance or building air bases at forward locations. After 2001 I was only deployed 6 to 8 weeks at a time to this or that location giving technical support to other units. A few years ago the Air Force was looking for NCOs to fill a shortage of Flight Engineers and since I had a private pilot's license they felt I was somewhat qualified, so I retrained into this career field two years ago. This is my second deployment over here as a flyer.

I'd be happy to write the troops. I am a former woman marine and feel i must say my peace here. We may not like what is going on over in iraq and not believe our sons and daughters need to be there. Yes, they signed up in the military and the thought of going to war did cross their minds, but they are also fighting for our freedom and civil liberties that so many people in this country take for granted. I am proud of every young person over there and though they might not believe in fighting, they do believe in the freedom we live in every day. I think with the fourth of july holiday coming we should all reflect on that.
