Soliciting opinions....Omlet Cube or Henspa?

Lol! Thanks for letting me know your vote :)

I had to act mysterious. I really wanted to. But I also wanted to tell you. Maybe you should make a poll?

Let's put it this way: would you rather:
A) buy a gold ring which everyone will want to steal from you or
B) buy a nice coop which you love and nobody wants to steal?
There are a few fun ways to spend money and some of us like buying fancy, expensive coops! You don't have to agree with me.

Yup...I've been having a ball just planning my purchase.....

You will never see me enjoy any minute of time in a mall (yuk) but it appears my weaknesses are books and chicken stuff (currently coops).

I justify all the books easily because DH loves to build me nice bookshelves and when you line them up against outside walls, you can technically call it insulation :)

Can I ask why? I really want other opinions because I am relatively new at this :) I appreciate it!!!!

Honestly for me I wouldn't have been able to get my first group of girls if it hadn't been for my original Eglu....from there for me the natural thing to do was to get the Cube when it became available here in the States. I like the funky cool design (mine is orange) and the fact that is is double insulated so it stays cool in the summer and warm in the winter was another selling point. The ease of cleaning cannot be beat (IMO)

maintaining the entire setup is a breeze (although I wish I had recieved the LARGER run door) I've been really happy and so have the girls. I've only got the three girls in it at the moment and am planning a larger walk in run (so I can get maybe 3 more) I just think the run is a bit small because I like the BIG girls....the heavy breeds.
In all fairness I've never owned a Henspa but I do like their "Gazebo Coop" quite a bit.

CUBE. I have an eglu. Wish I had a Cube because of the size. One of the main and most important issues for me was the ability and ease of keeping it clean. My DH has asthma and COPD. I've had no mites, fleas or any problem and it is SO easy to keep clean. I did not get the Eglu run. We built a run and put the eglu on a 2 foot table, so they're off the ground. The CUBE has that height built in. You can purchase just the cube without the run, too. I've seen loads of pictures from the UK where folks built a run for the CUBE. Just MHO.

I too have looked at the Henspa, but decided it will not do for me. I now have the Eglu Cube; and think that it is a fanstastically designed product. I own a wooden coop (built by hubby and me) with chickens before, and cleaning a plastic coop is little easier.

I think you have to look at your farmland and backyard. Are you actually going to move your coop over fresh grass every 3 to 4 days or so? If you are to do that, determine first how flat/level your land is. If your land is LEVEL, and the coop will sit flush/flat on the ground, without any "holes" where predators can wedge into the coop, then either the henspa or Eglu Cube will work for you. On the other hand, if your land has slopes, and is slightly bumpy - hands down the Eglu Cube, since the run flexible, and one can peg down the run skirt so that it is safer against predators.

I have now set my Eglu Cube on a stationary site; and that makes cleaning the litter out, and taking care of the chickens very easy -- I just walk into the run, and shovel used litter onto a wheelbarrow. After that, I replace with fresh litter. One the other hand, if one were to set the Henspa on a stationary spot, cleaning the litter would be a royal pain in the rear. There is no side door except for a removable roof. In wintertime, are you going to move your coop to clean the litter?

The Henspa is very attractive, and looks great as an elegant part of the landscape behind the house. The Eglu Cube looks like a very very COOL playhouse for chickens.

My email questions to Henspa have also always been ignored. Maybe it is because I ask about predator questions. My interaction with the Omlet company that sells the Eglu is very satisfactory.

You decide, of course, on what your needs and wants are. I think both are good choices; and the Eglu Cube works for me.

Cheers!
