Solo Chick

[Panhandle chick]

We picked up a chick from young girl who thought it might be a Roo- she got from local feed store. I think it’s about 5 weeks? My 8 week old girls beat it up and so now the little one is in the house until it’s a bit bigger.
Question: Should I get it a companion? I work from home so it’s kicking it with me during the day and I think it thinks I’m mom I don’t want it to be lonely.

Yes that's a rooster.
I would get it some friends. Chickens are very social.
One of my broodies is due to hatch one chick in 9 days, and I'm thinking of getting some day olds to keep the chick company.

Yes it's a boy and yes having multiple chicks not only gives him his own subflock of buddies, but makes for much easier integration as it spreads out any aggression from adults, instead of having it all focused on him.
