So my setup is a little complicated, still under construction. I have a large shed that I’ve made into a “poultry barn” with multiple pens. My free range/layer flock will have a large area with roosts. But I want to keep the chickens off of the tops of the other grow out pens without having to hardware cloth to the roof. I eventually want to go to the roof and also Add a door in the aisle but we’re out of money for wood and it’s just gotta wait.

I say clip their wings the only bad thing would be they CAN NOT fly until they molt and get those feathers back so if they still need to fly think past my idea, hope this helps though.

That's a neat set up. I would go to the dollar store and get a couple sets of cheap plastic tablecloths (assuming you said it's temporary for the moment) like they use at a birthday party (single use, throw away) and staple those to your rafters and let them drape down to the top edges of your pens. Go all the way around the perimeter with the drape. You can staple it to the edges of your little boxes (so the wind doesn't blow it around to bad and defeat the purpose). When you can afford to complete the project, rip them down and continue, in the longrun you've spent maybe $5 on a temp solution (assuming you have a staplegun (or you could see if dollar store did (prob can't get office staples inti the older dried wood).

And we have a winner.

I didn’t even think about drapes. Fantastic idea. That should work.

And thanks. Once everything is don’t I’m gonna do an article or something

Might be better to use a fencing material, drapes may reduce ventilation.
They wouldn't be going to the floor of the pen. Just the top of the pen (looks like 3 1/2 ‐4 ft below the roof level) that they're planning to extend, and the hardware cloth surrounding the pens provides plenty of ventilation in @TwistedTayy 's case 😊 they can cut off any excess if once attached it's to long.
